In our last post we talked about how much we love working with our clients. The fact that they become a part of our extended family. We forgot to mention one key other reason we love our job so much…. SHOPPING!!!

Michelle, aka The Style Queen, has spent the last two days buying new decorations for fabulous new function themes. She has put her decorating hat on, thought about all the ways she would like to dress up a Marquee or venue, and shopped her little heart out.

So what’s she got? (Besides her ridiculous rule about not letting the girls use ANYTHING at their homes beforehand. Apparently she wants the items to be brand new for clients. How selfish.) She has brand new sleek and modern furniture, gorgeous rustic throw pillows, new tall/small/wide/slim/round/every-other-imagineable-size centrepieces, new bling mirrors and our personal favourite… antique French style luggage! It is all to die for.

So some of the new themes that we can personalise and customise for your perfect event are: traditional Australian rustic, antique Parisian / French, bling-bling-bling, simplistic modern elegance, Asian chic, pearl sophistication, garden/natural simplicity and any (every!) combination of those you can think of! Michelle’s daughter Kristen is pretty keen on an Asian chic / antique Parisian fusion wedding… the girls aren’t quite sure how that would go. Plus she needs a ring first. A minor detail.

Welcome to 2012! The year of the Dragon and year of fabulous Domayn events! We thought we’d be starting our year quietly… just recuperating and getting ready for the mammoth months ahead. But no such luck. We’re already planning and preparing for two or three Marquee weddings every weekend till May! So much for giving our staff (and us!) a little break to catch our breath…

But we absolutely love it. After the two sensational (and huge!) weddings held over New Years we are very excited to continue our successes in the new year. And seeing as we are already booked up till May, Michelle and her huge heart has decided that instead of turning brides, birthday boys and girls and any other potential Domayn friends away, we’re buying new stock!! We are never going to fit everything in our shed…

So even though we continue to be busier than J-Lo and Barack Obama combined, we’re growing our business to accomodate as many of our potential clients as possible! This year has absolutely flown past. So far, we’ve had over 80 weddings, assisted well over 200 events and have added three people to the Domayn team. We’ve also started to travel all over NSW to help clients with their events.

This year we’ve travelled to Dubbo, Port Macquarie, Scone and Merriwa. Our stunning bride from Port Macquarie, Natalie, literally burst into tears when she saw our styling for her big day.

For 2012 so far, we have over 20 weddings booked in and nearly ten of those are outside of Mudgee. 2012 will be the year our Domayn team travels to Scone, Dubbo, Narromine, the Hunter Region and even Newcastle! Most people’s advice for the Christmas season is to simply enjoy it. However, studies show that people are generally more stressed around Christmas than any other time of the year.

So this year, take the stress out of your day by following a few simple steps.

1. Where you can, let the experts help you! Speaking to an event professional can help you pick out the stressful parts well before your day.

2. Plan plan plan! Do as much planning as you can before hand. Including planning for different weather. This year it’s supposed to rain all day Christmas Day and Boxing Day – do you have wet weather plans?

3. Get things ready! Set your table, organise food and get as much ready in the days leading up to Christmas as you can.

4. Have a cleaning action plan. The worst part about Christmas is the mess. But, if you have a cleaning plan in mind before the big day you know how you are going to tackle it. For example, have a section of your kitchen bench allocated for mess. Stack used crockery and cutlery in that area ready for the next day. This way, it won’t crowd your day!

5. Lastly, and most importantly, ENJOY YOURSELF. Regardless of mess, weather, screaming children or overeating, you need to enjoy your day. Do what it takes to make sure you have fun.

Summer may not be heating up but the events around Mudgee sure are! The Domayn team are flat out with gorgeous Marquee and vineyard weddings, Christmas parties and birthdays. We all had a much needed break on Saturday night at the Burnbrae Black Tie BBQ but it was straight back to work on Monday to prepare for another full on weekend this weekend. Again, we have a Marquee wedding, vineyard wedding, two birthdays and three Christmas parties! Not to mention the equipment we’ll be preparing for walk-ins!

In a wedding over the weekend, our Bride and Groom chose a local RSL as their venue. They were happy with the location and were resigned to the fact that the room would always look like an RSL. However, the Domayn team came on board and turned the RSL space into an unrecognisable wedding space!

The Bride burst into tears when she saw the final product and said ‘I never imagined that this room could look so utterly beautiful! This is perfect!’.

We’ve also got the Huntington Music Festival! If you feel like chilling out and listening to some fabulous music over the weekend, head out to Huntingtons and soak up the incredible sounds of Thomas Meglioranza, Guy Johnston, the Adelaide Chamber Singers and the Modigliani String Quartet.

We’ve also got several 21sts, 18ths and backyard Christmas parties! Phew…it sure is busy here.
